$900,000 for Woman Assaulted During an In-Room Hotel Massage

Cook County, IL: Lane Brown, LLC attorneys Mark A. Brown and Kellie J. Snyder obtained a $900,000 settlement on behalf of our client.

In 2019, a 38-year-old woman staying at a Chicago-area hotel booked a massage through the spa located within the hotel. The hotel sent a man presented as a licensed massage therapist to her room to provide an in-room massage, and he sexually assaulted her during the massage. He did not have a massage license and had a known history of prior allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct.

The hotel denied liability and argued that the spa was run by a third party that was solely responsible. The Chicago-area hotel and the spa company paid the settlement.

Settlement: $900,000
