$850,000 for Man Abused in a Parish After-School Program

Cook County, IL: Lane Brown, LLC attorneys Mark A. Brown and Kellie J. Snyder obtained a $850,000 settlement on behalf of our client.

A man, now 32, alleged that he was groomed and sexually abused by a former Archdiocese of Chicago priest while he participated in the after-school program at Our Lady of the Westside and played basketball for the school beginning in sixth grade.

The claim alleged that the Archdiocese was negligent in failing to keep the priest away from minors despite knowledge of numerous allegations involving inappropriate sexual contact with minors. The defendants denied that they were negligent or liable. The Archdiocese of Chicago paid the settlement, and the claim was resolved without a lawsuit being filed.

Settlement: $850,000
